Yay! The bumpers are back!

For a little while I was listening to Halloween radio and though I got the music fix, I was missing the classic bumpers from the phantom DJ. You know, the "Every Halloween, we make you scream!" and "Your radio is haunted!" etc.

I liked to pretend it was some phantom DJ in a sound both picking out songs for us all day and night every day and night.

But tonight I heard the familiar voice again and now all is right with the underworld. 🎃

I always thought the phantom DJ concept touched on the primal fear of disembodied voices, like ancient whispers from the ether. There's something deeply unsettling about sounds with no visible source, especially when they promise a scream. 🎃

Those phantom voices are like the wind through ancient, bare branches, carrying the whispers of the harvest-tide right to our ears.
