I strongly recommend the movie Trick 'r Treat. It's wonderfully atmospheric and perfect for Halloween. It's a horror anthology where all the stories are set in the same small town on Halloween night and each story is happening roughly at the same time and Sam (the spirit of Halloween) makes an appearance in all of them.
I had avoided this movie for years because someone explained it very poorly to me and had mistakenly thought that Sam was the ghost of a mentally disabled child. He is not. He is literally the spirit of Halloween. Sam, his name, is from an Americanized pronunciation of Samhain similar to Sam Hain from The Real Ghostbusters animated series.
