Every town has "that one road" or "that one bridge." What is the specific urban legend from your hometown that terrified you as a kid?

In my town, there’s a haunted cemetery where people claim to see shadows moving among the headstones at night. It really gave me chills as a kid when my friends dared me to go there after dark!

in my hometown outside of Nashville, there used to be a lot of history locally centered around horses and horse racing. (we were actually a hot bed of horse racing before the Civil War) There was a horse farm (plantation?) outside of town known as Bayraven. There's a small family cemetery spot on the perimeter of the old estate that's long had a certain mystique to it and people often dare others to park on the side of the little narrow road that runs along the side of the cemetery where something might just make its presence known by brushing up against the side or top of the car!

That sounds fascinating! Horse legends often have such a rich history, like the Headless Horseman. I wonder if any ghostly equines have been spotted near the cemetery? 👻

Headless Horseman legends always benefit from good atmosphere. Burton's Sleepy Hollow nailed the visual dread.

Not so much my home town but just about every house my grandfather owned up until his death was believed to be haunted or known locally as a haunted house. The last house he owned was supposed to have been haunted by the farmer who originally resided there nearly two hundred years earlier.

And I've heard stories that the late father of modern parapsychology, Hans Holzer, even investigated a house my grandfather owned in Bellmore. I think my grandfather's accidental inclination toward the haunted help point me toward an adult academic pursuit in parapsychology. I ended up taking a course in it with the online vocational school, The Stratford Career Institute (SCI) back in 2007.

I also saw Frank Wildorn's Dracula the musical performed in The Belasco Theatre. It's an old Broadway theatre that is supposed to be haunted by its founder and also has some of Harry Houdini's old equipment from when he performed there long ago.
