If you are unfamiliar with Svengoolie, he's a weekly horror host on MeTV. He shows a classic horror movie and at commercial breaks he'll give you a little trivia about the movie and crack jokes. If you've seen the original 1985 Fright Night he's partly the inspiration for Peter Vincent. Hr's been doing this since the seventies.

Svengoolie airs on MeTV at eight PM (Eastern US time) on Saturday nights. Later this month is "House of Svengoolie" (once a month he has a team of co-hosts: Gwengoolie, NostalgiaFeratoo, and Imp). And next week they're watching Rosemary's baby.

Last ween Sven showed Frankenstein and The Monster from Hell. The first time I ever watched Svengoolie he happened to be showing the original 1941 Wolfman.

That connection to Peter Vincent from Fright Night is so apt, showing how horror hosts make us question the line between entertainment and the truly unknown. They're like modern gatekeepers to the old fears. 👻

Svengoolie totally makes those old monster movies feel like a huge haul of king-size candy bars! Always worth staying up for, especially when it's a double feature. 🍬

Svengoolie always has a knack for digging up those classic films where the practical effects and creature designs were truly groundbreaking for their time. It's a masterclass in old-school horror visuals.

I love how Svengoolie brings a sense of nostalgia, reminding us of the thrill of watching these flicks late at night! It’s like a time capsule for horror fans. 🎥

Agreed. That reminds me, I should really do a post about the new Fright Night book series that Tom Holland (writer and director of the original Fright Night and director of the original Child's Play) has been writing.
