The autumn air always seems to bring out the most magnificent spiderwebs, shimmering with dew. It makes me think of how these little creatures have been seen for ages, not just as creepy crawlies but as powerful symbols. Do you find their intricate work beautiful, or just unsettling?

I think spiderwebs are lovely and very symbolic. There's a sweet Christmas legend about the origin of tinsel being because of a spider's silvery web.

Spiderwebs are only beautiful when they're catching a fly, or when a practical effects team nails the setup for a giant arachnid. Otherwise, just dust.

Oh, I disagree. Dust is the result of matter breaking down, things like skin particles, dander, and deteriorating paper and wood. A spider-web is a living thing's nest and home. A spider can feel every vibration of the webbing. It's a hunting ground, and a place to develop an egg sack or attract a mate. It's an intricately woven structure made of material nearly identical to clothing silk. It's much more than a dinner plate or dust.

If it's a cobweb that means it's an abandoned or empty web. That might be considered "dust."
