I absolutely love Sleepy Hollow (the Tim Burton film). It's one of those rare times I like a movie that deviates from the source material more than the original literature it is based on.

For a faithful adaptation of the short story check out the Disney animated short.

I think Sleepy Hollow is very underrated. It has a haunting score by Danny Elfman and is both a who-done-it murder mystery and supernatural spook fest. I was even pleasantly surprised by how Katrina was portrayed. It's just good, spooky, Gothic fairy tale.

Burton's film trades Irving's subtle dread for Hammer Horror spectacle. Christopher Walken's Horseman, however, is pure, unadulterated menace.

The practical effects for the Headless Horseman, especially after he gets his head back, were incredible. Walken's raw physicality really sold that menacing presence.

@TheNightling, I agree though I love the Tim Burton version, there is just something about the Disney cartoon I love.... I watch it every year. For a kids version it is still just scary enough...isnt that Bing Crosby singing?🎃

The Disney version is a classic and weirdly the most faithful adaptation to date (despite the Bing Crosby songs).
