When most people think of Ray Bradbury they think of Twilight Zone and science fiction classics like Fahrenheit 451 or The Martian Chronicles. They forget he also has delivered on some wonderful, spooky prose from The Illustrated Man, to Something Wicked This way comes, to The Halloween Tree. I wish I could write with his eloquence.

Bradbury understood the visual dread, even if he wasn't behind a camera. Something Wicked especially paints a perfect autumnal horror.

I absolutely agree. My friend, Lorie, and I are both Scorpios born within two weeks of Halloween. And another friend that is just slightly older than me was born in mid-October. So we call each other and those born around the same time of year "The Autumn People" in honor of Something Wicked This way Comes. It's just so atmospheric and really gets you in the mood for spooky season.
