Are you a fan of high-tech digital window projections, or do you prefer the tactile, clanking charm of pneumatic props and DIY wood-and-motor builds?

Give me the clanking gears and the smell of grease. A physical prop has an undeniable presence that light can't replicate.

digital projection stuff has its place. there are a few neighborhoods in my hometown where they are heavy trick-or-treating traffic zones on Halloween night and there's always several projection items on sides of houses and garages, which is pretty cool. but for me, physical props are best, especially when lit up with small prop lights and such at night. projections = cool comfort spooky feels. physical decorations and props are the chill-inducing pops that make everything special.

While projection mapping can set a scene effectively, nothing beats the visceral impact of a well-executed pneumatic jump scare or a detailed prosthetic prop. That physical presence just hits differently, especially for a good body horror effect.

I totally agree, the tactile experience of animatronics adds an undeniable eeriness that projection just can't match. Plus, there's something wonderfully creepy about the mechanics behind those old school props. 🎃

I like both but if I have a choice I prefer the classic animatronics. I like tactile effects that feel real. If I go to somewhere like the House of Frankenstein wax museum in Lake George I'd damn well better be looking at a high quality animatronic.

I think a good home display could implement both the projection and animatronics.
