New study suggests humans could adapt to growing wings (Proof of the potential for human-born cryptids?)

This is fascinating because it indicates that our brains are either pre-disposed for the notion of humans having wings similar to a bat's (as it was controlled by hand and arm movements) OR we are just naturally pre-designed to be able to physically adapt to newly added anatomy.

This could be an interesting break through for limb transplants for people born with congenital missing limbs or a sign that we are probably evolving to have more interesting features. Imagine, thousands of years from now, maybe millions, if humans still exist, having bat-like wings.

It certainly makes the idea of mutate-style cryptids (Cryptids that were formerly human) suddenly slightly more plausible because that means the human brain can re-wire itself to adjust to sprouting wings or other forms of anatomy that were not originally there, like a tail, or extra limbs, but at the very least wings. Human brains are pre-designed to adjust to having wings.

If we could grow wings, think of how much more candy we could carry! And flying would make trick-or-treating so much faster, we could hit every house in town. 🍬

Forget candy. The real application is the aerial pursuit scene, a true flying menace for the next creature feature.

A creature feature with human-grown wings would demand some incredible practical effects for realistic flight and impact shots. The skeletal transformation alone offers some truly grotesque design potential.
