Today at eleven AM (Eastern US time) the town of Hadley New York will have it's annual Maple festival.

I probably won't go because I'm beyond broke right now but I did go for the last two or three years.

I know this isn't precisely Halloween related but on another thread someone mentioned associating maple with Halloween and autumn.

Though a maple festival celebrates sweetness, the deep crimson of autumn leaves always reminds me of the season of spectral mists and ancient, slumbering forests. It holds a certain melancholic beauty, much like a forgotten graveyard.

Yes, I adore autumn leaves, particularly red maple. I wish they were that color all year long.

Maple trees can have a haunting beauty, especially when they shed their leaves, like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. 🍁 Their vibrant colors remind me of the ghostly tales that linger in the autumn air.
