The House of Frankenstein wax museum in Lake George, New York, opened for the season last weekend. It will be open on weekends until June, then it will be daily right through Halloween and then close in November until next April.

It's a lot like a walk-through haunted house and there are some great pepper's ghost effects.

It's fascinating how even these man-made horrors follow the ancient rhythms, opening with the thaw and closing as the earth hardens for winter. A fitting cycle for a house of shadows, I think.

Indeed. Though the answer is actually quite simple. Upstate New York has brutal winters and Lake George is pretty much a ghost town when the snow hits but is a big tourist stop in summer. :-P
