For a true Danse Macabre, you can't beat Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. It just screams ancient dread and the rustling of shrouds.

You can't go wrong with Danny Elfman's scores, especially from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.' They capture that eerie yet whimsical vibe perfectly! 🎃

Elfman's scores do capture that vibrant, yet chilling, dance of life and decay. It reminds me of the season's transition, a joyous surrender to the earth's rhythm. 🍂

For a haunting twist, don't forget about Camille Saint-Saëns' 'Danse Macabre' itself! It perfectly embodies the night when the dead rise and dance, making it a quintessential choice for spooky vibes.

I recommend every track from Aurelio Voltaire's The Last Halloween Party. It's always Wednesday, Skeleton Dance, Last Halloween Party, Decorate for Halloween, and Cyndie The Queen of Halloween. I did a post about it on the music playlists topic. Also if you don't have it, Vincent Price's own cover of Monster Mash.

I also recommend the multiple versions of The Ballad of The Witches' Road from Agatha All Along. The versions I like are The cover version, the 70s Pop style version by Lorna Wu (There might be another name attached to that one), The Sacred chant version, the Agatha Through time version, the Japanese Breakfast pop cover, and the Nicholas Scratch version.

The cover version from episode 4 is probably best, but I also really like the sacred chant version.

I LOVE all things by Danny Elfman. Several of his Oingo Boingo era music is also befitting of Halloween radio. And his score for Sleepy Hollow is woefully underrated.

There is a surprisingly good "medieval" instrumental cover of "This is Halloween" up on youtube.

I recently started listening to a band called Lesbian Bed Death and they have a lot of spooky tunes. They have an album called "Born to die on VHS" that has a lot of great covers of 80s horror themed songs including Pet Sematery, Dream Warriors, Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys), You can't hide from The Beast inside, and Power of the Night.

Not on that album but also by them are covers of Hex Girl (From Scooby Doo and The Witch's Ghost), Vampire lover, I use my powers for Evil, Lesbian Vampires from outer space, and Bela Lugosi's back (a sort of sequel to Bauhaus's Bela Lugosi's Dead).

There's also Halloween, and Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

You can do magic by America.

Samhain by Inkubus Sukkubus.

Dracula's Wedding by Outcast (I can't recall if you have that or not).

There's also a really good cover of Hex Girl and "Earth wind fire and air" by The Nostalgic Chicks and the Moon Sisters.

You play the intro to Phantom of the Opera (musical) a lot but I don't recall ever hearing the actual song titled "Phantom of the Opera" (I think it's track 5) from the musical or even the musical movie. The stage version is Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman but the movie version is Gerard Butler (I think).

Also there's a new The Lost Boys Broadway musical based on the vampire film. You could check out those songs. I think four of them have been released.

And AMC has started releasing tie-in songs for The Vampire Lestat (season 3 of the Interview with the vampire TV series).

This is a rarity but I'd really like to hear "Come to me" by Deborah Holland. It's a cover version from Fright Night Part 2 (1988). That one might only be available on Youtube. I know Sam Haynes has a remastered version on their page.

Also a few Voltaire songs I'd like to suggest.

Nosferatu's affliction
A visit from The Count
Friends in the Dark
Oubliette
As the World falls Down (cover of the Bowie song, in fact the Bowie song would be a nice fit too)
Don't go by the river
Raised by Bats
The Night
The Night (1988 Death rock version. I like this version best)
Almost Human (From Lucifer's point of view)

Also Danny Elfman has a new album coming out this autumn. And he released the score for Universal's Epic Universe Dark Universe (He does the music for the "Dark Universe" section of the Epic Universe theme park. The Dark Universe part is dedicated to the classic Universal monsters).

Werewolf by Scary B-tches.

Werewolf Delight by DBone and The Remains.

The Witches are Back from Hocus Pocus 2

One way or another (Hocus Pocus 2 version, lyrics are changed)

Skeleton Sam (From Hocus Pocus 2)

Ghosted (From Hocus Pocus 2)

You can't hide from the Beast inside by Autograph

Armies of the Night by Sparks

Give it up by Champaign (from the 1985 Fright Night)

Right before my eyes by Sir Elton John (It's from the Lestat musical and a newly remastered version is up on youtube. It's The Vampire Lestat pining for his mortal companion, Nicolas).

Cruel Summer by Bananarama. I wouldn't usually consider this a Halloween song but they used it a lot in the early advertising for Ghostbusters Frozen empire and now it's become common on Summerween playlists.

Monster's Holiday by Aurelio Voltaire (very different from other songs with the same title).

This is a rare one. I've only been able to find it on Youtube but I recommend "Touching old magic" from The Real Ghostbusters animated series. It's one of the few times the characters sing and it's from the show's first Halloween special.

Do you have the following "classical music" songs in your library, perhaps played on the atmosphere station?"

Flight of the Valkeries
A Night on Bald Mountain
Mephisto Waltz
Hall of the Mountain King

if not, i think they'd be some great additions to Halloween Radio! :)

Lestat covering Billy Idol's Dancing With myself. Weirdly appropriate. This is from season 3 of Interview with The Vampire, now renamed The Vampire Lestat.

Hey Pipkin 🎃

A thousand eerie thanks for all your wickedly good suggestions… they crept right into my mind and made themselves at home 👻 I truly appreciate the time and thought you put into it. I’ll be diving into the shadows and getting to work on everything you shared - can’t wait to bring it all to life (or… back from the dead 🕯️).
