The 1999 Tim Burton classic "Sleepy Hollow" is going to Paramount+. I saw that movie three times in the cinema and it's one of my favorite horror movies. It has such great atmosphere, scoring, and likable characters. It was also a loving homage to Hammer Horror.

Sleepy Hollow subverted my expectations but in a good way. I had expected something like the Washington Irving story but perhaps where it might end up being just a murder mystery with someone running around dressed as the headless Horseman. Not only did the movie have both a mystery AND the supernatural (my favorite combination) but it also showed witchcracft (an anachronistic Wiccan?) in a positive light with Katrina and provided a correct, protective, purpose for a pentacle.

My little brother, Jeffrey, got to see the movie before me but on my behalf, when Danny Elfman's name appeared in the opening credits he shouted "DANNY!" His friend attested that it really happened. I was already very much a fan of Danny Elfman's music by 1999, having discovered my love for him back in 1993 at age eleven.

My favorite horror movie is inconsistent and based upon my mood. One day it might be the 1985 Fright Night, another day it could be Trick 'r Treat, or Frank Langella's Dracula, or Asylum's Monster Mash, or 2022's The Invitation. Today it's Sleepy Hollow and it'll be Sleepy Hollow again when my favorites rotate again. I love Gothic Horror.

Sleepy Hollow is going to Paramount+. The MovieWeb article about this claims this is the first time Sleepy Hollow will be available for streaming. This is not true. It has been on Netflix and as recently as this last October and November Sleepy Hollow was on both Pluto TV and Youtube to watch for free but with commercial breaks. (FASST = Free, Add supported, streaming, television- sometimes shortened to FAST).

The version on Youtube was a Pan and Scan from TV Broadcasts though and a lot of tiny edits were in it along with much of the movie's gore. Pluto TV had the uncut version of the movie but a lot more commercial breaks.
