Some thoughts on the rising Vampire rock trend:
I've been seeing a lot of Facebook reels lately of a particular man in the Spirit Halloween Dracula costume dancing to the song Dracula by Tame Impala. He kind of reminds me of the Jack-o-lantern headed guy who became a popular dancing Halloween meme.
I actually thought the song "Dracula" by Tame Impala was older than this. Turns out it's only about seven months old. It's a fairly new song and already gaining traction as an impending Halloween meme.
You know it kind of figures.
We're entering a strange (though welcome) vampire rock variation on the ever recurring vampire trends. And I'm rather liking it.
Examples:
The Lost Boys Broadway musical,
The Vampire Lestat AMC series and related songs (though I wish it wasn't so "edgy" and wish it tried harder to be more like book),
The song Monster by Emma Reinagal from Asylum's Monster Mash.
The live action Monster High musical movies.
It kind of figures and amuses me that when I wasn't looking Dracula beat both The Lost Boys musical and The Vampire Lestat to the quick with a befitting, poppy, reminiscent-of-Disco, dance song.
Ever since Love at First Bite and The Halloween that almost wasn't (AKA The Night Dracula saved the world) The King of vampires (Not actually first vampire but self-appointed king nevertheless) has been delightfully camp with pop and rock.
