Spirit Halloween's Grand Opening in Egg Harbor New Jersey is going to be on Saturday August 1st this year.
This makes a lot more sense, rather than the date I had previously been falsely told of August 22nd.
If you're unfamiliar with Spirit Halloween it's a seasonal Halloween costume, Goth decor, and Horror collectable shop that opens seasonally- usually from late July until the first week of November.
The one I used to go to in Amsterdam New York always opened in late July and then would close at the end of the first week of November.
Spirit Halloween's online store is open all year long but their physical brick and mortar stores are seasonal. They also now have a Christmas equivalent called Spirit Christmas stores- which is mostly traditional Christmas merchandise but there's also a "Creepmas" (Spooky Christmas) section.
Traditionally, every Halloween season in the US, starting in late July, abandoned or recently vacated stores in malls, strip malls, and shopping centers, or even big Box Stores, and warehouses, get "Possessed" by Spirit Halloween. This is why there's that popular online meme / joke of Spirit Halloween taking over things that have recently shut down (like airlines) or businesses and organizations that are doing poorly / have temporarily shut down (Congress).
Consider Spirit Halloween to be the mysterious, real-world, goblin market. It appears suddenly and disappears just as quickly. Its mascot is a Grim Reaper looking fellow named Jack the Reaper.
