Happy Summerween!

Summerween is nebulous, not a specific date!

Gravity Falls places Summerween on June 22nd but I strongly disagree. Sure you can celebrate it on the Summer Solstice (or night after) if you like but I think Summerween is more of a nebulous thing.

It's carrying the spooky season with you through the summer. In July we start getting Code oranges (mainstream stores start carrying Halloween merchandise) as early as July 5th.

One grocery store chain that I know of, Price Chopper and Market 32 start putting out Pumpkin Spice cinnamon sugar cake doughnuts and apple cider doughnuts, pumpkin pies, and apple pies on August 1st.

The first Spirit Halloween stores of the season open in late July and early August.

And every seven years or so July or August get a Friday The 13th.

So I say, don't limit yourself to one day. Summerween is nebulous and stretches into early Spooky season (beginning July 5th).

Put those skeletons in your swimming pool. Wear those bat swim trunks. Watch Lost Boys (which I consider the quintessential Summer spooky movie). Carve those Watermelon and Pineapple Jack-o-lanterns. Play bobbing for apples (the game is more fun in summer anyway). Roast those s'mores. Tell ghost stories around the camp fire. Listen to Aurelio Voltaire's Monster's Holiday on repeat.

Summerween is all summer long. Let no one tell you otherwise!
