I know the first Ghostbusters movie and even the Real Ghostbusters animated series reveals the credentials and degrees of each Ghostbuster and Winston has a doctorate in Egyptology in the Ghostbusters video game. But I was thinking, the other day, of what esoteric (pseudo) sciences match which Ghostbuster.
This list is not canon. It’s only for fun. Also I am aware that a few of them actually, canonically, did have status as parapsychologists but I was writing this list based on behavior and personality of each Ghostbuster.
Parapsychologist – Egon and possibly Ray. If Peter passed a parapsychology course it’s because he paid or tricked Egon or Ray to do his assignments for him. Both Egon and Ray are well versed in parapsychology and in The Real Ghostbusters animated series Ray served as Egon’s Parapsychology to Mundane (English) translator.
Cryptozoologist (Specializing in Paracryptozoology.) – Ray and possibly Egon. Ray seems the type to investigate paranormal (loose interpretation) Lifeforms. And in The Real Ghostbusters animated series they had ample encounters with entities like werewolves, goblins, boogie men, and even The Sandman.
Doctor of Metaphysics – Definitely Ray. Have you seen his Occult books? :-P
Doctorate in Divinity (DD) or Theology degree – Winston. Winston seems to be well-versed in Biblical lore.
Demonologist – Winston. Not only is Winston well-versed in Biblical canon but in The Real Ghostbusters animated series he was able to save Peter’s soul in a baseball game of good vs. evil. He was also once on a gameshow where a demon was the host.
And finally- Astrology, Numerology, and Palmistry – Definitely Peter. Peter has ample experience with parapsychology but he seems to favor claims of clairvoyance and destiny so I could imagine his field of study heavily favoring situations where he could ask “What’s your sign?”
